About us
The research team “Economic and regional geography” focuses its activities in the research field Social and economic geography (50 700 FORD). Basic and applied research is focused on interconnectedness and influence of economic and environmental impact on the development and competitiveness of cities and regions, caused by:
- globalization processes, European integration and development of new technologies and demographical changes (doc. RNDr. Jiří Ježek, Ph.D., Prof. MAG Michal Kohout, PhD, RNDr. Jiří Preis, Ph.D.),
- social and political changes (RNDr. David Vogt, Ph.D.),
- climatic changes and following issues of water management (doc. RNDr. Jan Kopp, Ph.D.) with respect to principles of sustainable local and regional development.
Further concentration of the Research team is on problems of peripheral (border) regions in confrontation with core (metropolitan) regions, especially on the outskirts of western, southwestern and northwestern Bohemia with an overlap into the Bavarian, Saxonian and Austrian borderlands (external periphery) or with overlap into districts of Karlovy Vary, Ústí nad Labem, Central Bohemia and South Bohemia (internal periphery) (doc. PaedDr. Jaroslav Dokoupil, Ph. D., Mgr. Martin Kebza).
Members of the research team are ready to cooperate on research projects according to their professional focus, they can be helpful in consulting and advisory activities in the areas of strategic development planning and in creating of strategic documents.
